A Letter to DST

Okay so tonight is going to be a little different. For those of you that don't know I'm a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and lately there has been a lot of confusion going on concerning my organization. Just to set the record, I've decided to write a little letter.

Dear Devastating Ladies of DST:

To be frank and upfront with you, your founders were far from being unique. All they really did was take OUR idea and put a twist of red and white on it. If you ask me that's just devastatingly WACK. Obviously, they didn't posses the intellect to come up with something of their own. So I'll take your talk of being "paper" and threats of "seeing you in the cut" but after that what will you have? Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is known internationally and we continue to strive for the image that our founders exemplified and graciously depicted back in 1908. And if I'm so much of being "paper" why even waste your 140 characters speaking my organization's name. Isn't it your founders day today? Face it, you love us and since you were not worthy of becoming a TRUE AKA, you lowered your standards and settled for less. Your second and you will remain second. So as I turn my pretty PINK and GREEN back to you reciting the words "pardon OUR back" ....you can kiss my pretty ass while watching me walk away with much pride. It's all "greek" love and oh yeah happy founders day!

P.S. If the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it. And a little word of advice: don't be so bitter, its makes you age quicker. =D

  1. ssskkkkkeeeeeee wwwweeeeeeee btw red & white is such a common color. Shouldn't you be talking about your founders on YOUR founders day?? clearly people have no love for their organization. On my founders i intend to express my love, appreciation for my founders, true sisterhood and admiration for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Until you can have history that wasn't borrowed or taken from mine dont speak. Our HERstory speaks for itself. 102 years baby!!!!

  3. First and foremost, thanks for being a blog thug, going in for your organization, and yet not stating your name, you're real cute. Secondly, you can make DST sound as fantastic as you want. So stealing is now known as being original? There was not enough hard work or ethic to stay true to the morals and values that are instilled in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Of course you have more members, for me and my fellow sorors do not SEEK interests. You do not have to buy us weave, hemp, or any materialistic values in order for you to become a part of our organization. People strive to be us, just like some of YOUR organization members, who if we were not suspended, would've been our big sisters. And please, come up with a new joke. Three days, paper, come on, and come again. We've been hearing that joke for over 100 years, ooops sorry 97, catch up. We have high scholastic and ethical standards contrast to popular belief, so this you do more programs or you have more value is just another crazy belief in your wild imagination. And you bring up our heels, and the basement, would you like the address to meet us there? And how would you know about our heels? You seent me? Because I have stated time and time again, you continue to call us paper, yet you have yet to invite us to a gripe session, and neither I nor any of my beautiful line sister will mind. Obviously the pink and green light went off in my sorors head, thinking that they only had red or blue to choose from. Do not bring up the fact that they were interested in your org, because I know for a fact that DST was not the first choice for some of your sorors. And best believe, as you continue to tweet, blog, and write the same tiring jokes all day, please remember, I will continue to respect your decision to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta. What you might not realize is that we have NEVER disrespected ANY organization. As soon as we came back, people had something to say. You might hate us, can’t stand us in our beautiful attire with our heads held high, but as we will continue to do for any Greek letter organization, you will RESPECT US. For you know not of what struggle we have had. And unlike all other twitter/facebook thugs, Tinaya's bark is as big as her bite. Once again, with the upmost respect, Happy Founders Day and continue to strive for excellence in your organization. And hopefully, for the common good of the community, we can come together. If not, oh well :)

  4. Furthermore, know your history mama. Today, on the founding of DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY INCORPORATED, ALL 22 members, THE ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP,(the only members left inside your founders social club, cause its clear u wouldn't understand)UNAMIOUSLY decided to organize Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. So, if you want to make your founders proud, the first rule of thumb would be to know what you speak of. If you're really an AKA, wouldnt your process have entailed learning and retaining information?

I think your post above is rather juvenile, disrespectful and disgusting as a member of such a profound organization. It makes you appear to be rather classless and simply put, whack.

And in closing, if Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated meant that lil to you, why give us ALL of your attention on the day of our Founding? Could it be that you're bitter about not being a memember? your linesisters are bitter, because we have their interest on file, and video-taped? See on our yard, ie your yard, we are recognized and respected by everyone. are you? Theres a greek world bigger than Alpha Phi Alpha, I hope you find it. thank you for the attention! We @ DST appreciate it! <3

  7. I don't know how I feel about these comments but I do know that I want to say this. Ever since we came on campus there has been talk of us being "paper" and we've been called every other name in the book. The one day that I want to take a stand and jab back, this thing turns into something totally unnecessary. To be quite honest with, I'm greatly aware of my rights and last time I checked I was free to say whatever I'd like. So if you found this letter to be offensive, then so be it. But don't throw stones if you're not able to catch them. THAT'S ALL!!

  9. babygirl,

I do not know what the perception of AKA has been at the campus, but your perception here i can only hope is not the same.

if you are truly MADE, u dont need to " take a stand and jab back"-see when u are MADE, you walk it, you talk it, and others that can identify it, respect it. Real recognizes real mama, and by your behavior above ( your letter to DST), u do not look familiar.

I am not writing this to bash you, I could care less how poorly u represent ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA, I am writing this because as a woman of an organization, you have to exert more class. I have dear friends who are members of your organization, MADE women of your organization, and I would not want you representing them in this way.

  10. If this post "is rather juvenile, disrespectful and disgusting" why even bother responding? Soror (Kay) while I understand your frustration, some things just don't need to be said; the proof is in the pudding. I wish we all could get past the pettiness and have a mutual respect for one another and the contributions that each of our organizations has made to service and the betterment of our people. Anything else (made vs paper, who runs the yard whatever) should be in the periphery to both of our respective missions. Shame on everyone who participates in this kind of behavior. At the end of the day we are all (mostly) black women who SHOULD be working towards a common goal. Our struggle is one in the same, and this garbage is exactly why folks can't get any where. Happy Founders Day to the women of Delta Sigma Theta. Both of our organizations has a remarkable legacy that should be lauded for their extraordinary contributions to the world. Congratulations on 97 years. Kay, I'll see you on Friday Sis!

  11. I thank you for you advice, but it starts with your girls first. I'm tired of people bashing us and all we do is stay quiet. Regardless of if you think I was "MADE" or not, I refuse to let anyone bash anything that I am apart of. So with that being said, if this letter was personally offensive to you I apologize. But other than that, I really could care less. What I said needed to be said, and now its over. Again, I hope you enjoy your founders Day!

  12. lol, Kay I'm one of yours boo...hence the I'll see you on Friday for OUR Founders Day...Respect does start at home, and like DST said engaging in this kind of distasteful banter brings us down to the same level as the people addressed in your post. We are all better than that. Have a skeerific day Soror!

  13. Maybe that wasn't meant for me...nonetheless, you all have a blessed day!

  14. question, when did you cross and how old are you? i ask this because in the grand scheme of things everything you typed really doesn't matter. as long as you truly have love for your own organization other orgs shouldn't matter. if you are a neo (or close to it) i can understand how you might think you HAVE to ride or die but you really are coming off as sounding like a hater. you or your parents for that matter (maybe even your grandparents) weren't around when either organization was founded so who was founded first doesn't really matter. i'm not trying to throw #shots at you, just trying to get you to see things on a bigger scale and with some perspective.
